A six-topic Grade 8 Science learning path aligned with the Alberta Program of Studies and suitable for Edmonton Public Schools. Students investigate matter, living systems, light, mechanical systems, aquatic environments, and scientific inquiry through hands-on experimentation, evidence-based reasoning, and Alberta-relevant applications. Each topic is designed for approximately 10 instructional days.

Students investigate the properties of fluids, including viscosity, density, buoyancy, pressure, and flow. They distinguish pure substances from mixtures, examine solutions and mechanical mixtures, and explore methods of separating substances. Learning connects fluid properties to technologies such as hydraulic systems, water treatment, pipelines, and everyday products. Students develop laboratory skills by planning fair tests, controlling variables, recording quantitative data, and using evidence to explain results.
