A six-topic, approximately 60-day Grade 7 Mathematics curriculum aligned with the Alberta Program of Studies and suitable for Calgary Board of Education classrooms. Students develop mathematical understanding through concrete models, visual representations, symbolic reasoning, problem solving, communication, technology, and real-world applications. Each topic is designed for approximately 10 instructional days and includes opportunities for formative assessment, collaboration, reflection, and differentiated practice.

Over approximately 10 days, students build fluency with positive and negative integers, fractions, decimals, and rational numbers. They use number lines, models, benchmarks, and contextual situations such as temperature, elevation, finances, and movement to compare and order rational numbers. Students develop and apply the order of operations, including brackets, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction, while explaining why an operation sequence is appropriate. Instruction should emphasize estimation, mental mathematics, multiple representations, and checking whether answers are reasonable.
